Django Django

This entertaining psychedelic four piece met in Edinburgh at Art College, first coming to prominence with their adventurous double A side single Storm/Love's Dart back in 2009. Since then they've been plotting their excellent self titled debut album which came out earlier this year, recording the record in drummer and de facto leader David MacLean's East London flat. It's been time well spent as they take the indie format to hitherto uncharted waters, sounding like a band a blast creating new sounds and piecing them together. From the sirens and surf guitar of bouncy WOR, the angular rhythms and jungle percussion of Zumm Zumm to the throwaway chanting of Firewater. There's plenty to sink your teeth into, for here is a band who can, if you let them, get you clapping and jigging for joy.

"buzzing synths that swirl around like a cloud of friendly wasps; lyrics delivered in mantras, summoning forth similar sermons to those once purveyed by the mighty Beta Band…. for here, sirs and madams, is a proposition to confound your expectations of what such a band should be and excite your senses to fresh possibilities."
